There are physical and emotional symptoms to anger and, by recognizing these, we are more likely to be able to control them.
Possible Physical Signs of Extreme Anger:
- Rubbing your face frequently
- Tightly clasping one hand with the other or making clenched fists
- Clenching of the jaw
- Grinding teeth
- Shallow breathing or breathlessness
- An increased heart-rate
- Perspiring
- Sweaty palms
- Trembling or shaking lips or hands
- Rocking motion whilst sitting
- Pacing
- You become rude and lose your sense of humor easily
- You talk louder than most people
- Cravings for things that you think may better you such as tobacco, sugar, alcohol, drugs, comfort food, etc.
- A desire to run away from the situation
- Irritation
- Feeling sad or depressed most of the time
- Feeling guilty or resentful most of the time
- Desire to lash out verbally or physically
