Anger Management

There are physical and emotional symptoms to anger and, by recognizing these, we are more likely to be able to control them.

Possible Physical Signs of Extreme Anger: 
  • Rubbing your face frequently
  • Tightly clasping one hand with the other or making clenched fists
  • Clenching of the jaw  
  • Grinding teeth
  • Shallow breathing or breathlessness
  • An increased heart-rate
  • Perspiring 
  • Sweaty palms
  • Trembling or shaking lips or hands
  • Rocking motion whilst sitting
  • Pacing
  • You become rude and lose your sense of humor easily
  • You talk louder than most people
  • Cravings for things that you think may better you such as tobacco, sugar, alcohol, drugs, comfort food, etc.
Possible Emotional Symptoms of Too Much Anger:
  • A desire to run away from the situation
  • Irritation
  • Feeling sad or depressed most of the time
  • Feeling guilty or resentful most of the time
  • Desire to lash out verbally or physically
